Back in May I posted about the amount of spam I was receiving. Like everyone else I know, they’re receiving an absolute deluge of the stuff particularly over the last couple of months and any defence has become very valuable. My inbox is pretty well taken care of, but the amount of “comment” spam this blog was receiving was intolerable.

Fortunately I use Wordpress to blog and very happy I am with it. There is a plug-in called Askimet that is absolutely brilliant at stopping all the comment spam that I had to wade through, just in case it was something useful.

Most of my blog posts have comments closed but just to try Askimet out properly I am going to allow comments to this particular post. Probably rather like a red rag to a bull, as they say, and not wanting to incur the wrath of any spammers, but I thought I’d give it a go anyway.

I’ll give a week and report back what happens. If anyone else has anything “useful” to add do comment.

Edit: A week later and the spam filter caught the lot. Comments now closed.
